Meet Your Inspector

Most home inspectors work to the same or similar standard operating procedures.  If we didn’t then getting a home inspection would be a very confusing task!  The difference in each home inspection comes down to the inspector themselves.  Attention to detail really matters when you’re dealing with the complex interdependent systems involved in a house.  With that in mind I wanted to use this post to introduce you to your inspector.

My name is Patrick Flanagan. At the time of this post I am 39 years old, and have been a full time home inspector for two years.  In that time I have performed over 200 full reported home inspections, and have performed twice that many informal walk through inspections for investment clients.  I was originally trained and certified through the Homespection Training Institute in Canton Ohio.  I then became re-certified through InterNACHI, a voluntary professional organization of home inspectors. I then achieved my license as a home inspector through the state of Ohio.  In addition I have achieved various certifications and licenses for Radon Testing, WDO (Wood Destroying Organism) Inspection, Mold Testing, and Lead Risk Assessment.

Before following the home inspection path I had gained experience working in construction, manufacturing, retail, sales, and small business ownership.  I’ve had a habit of moving through different industries in pursuit of a challenge, and the best methods to provide for my family.  In all of these industries I have always found myself in roles of training, leadership, and guidance.  The most portable skill I’ve developed and carried with me has been my attention to detail.

Finally, I would like to introduce you to my family.  My wife Brenda and I have been married for 14 years.  We’ve been blessed with three great children. Brianna, JJ, and Isaiah are currently at 11, 8, and 7, and they bring new challenges and rewards into each day.  Maybe one day they’ll grab a flashlight and agree to check out the crawlspace for me, but so far they’ve refused every time.  We live with my mother, Mary Kay, in the home I grew up in.

I’ll be the first to admit that I am a rough-around-the-edges looking guy.  Many may even assume how I look is who I am.  Let me assure you that I am as professional as you can hope for, and will provide a great inspection for you and your family.  I look forward to working with you!
